I have come to one conclusion today. Matchmaking at Christmas is a logistical nightmare!
Over the last week I have received more out of office responses and ‘sorry i’m not free to meet someone until the new year now’ emails than I have ever received…..and there’s still 12 days until Christmas day! It turns out dating in December is tricky business. Everyone is off partying, recovering from killer hangovers and crying in a ball of shame on the floor after last nights antics at the work Christmas party come back to haunt them. This makes the life of a Matchmaker a difficult one. How can we match you when you’re off having lots of fun?! I am sat here twiddling my thumbs wondering ‘where the heck is everyone’?
With clients off to the sunny shores or Brazil, Hawaii and er…Iceland I am left pondering why I was born in the not quite so glam Nottingham. Getting the midland mainline train to Beeston isn’t quite the same as skipping on board a BA flight to Rio!
What I want to know though is how do you find dating in December? Is it a date free month or your favourite time of the year to go on romantic strolls and sip mulled wine? Share your thoughts in the comments section below and help keep Caroline sane! 😉
The month of December is dark, yet cozy, and people are generally happy, so I think it’s a great time of the year for dating…but not necessarily your standard dinner and a movie date. For me, it’s always been more of a Monday night “hey, you wanna spin together and burn off some of those candy cane cocktails?” or, “what are you up to? want to go buy some stocking stuffers together?”
Claudia you are so right! I love December for dating….snuggling up, mulled wine, seeing the beautiful Christmas lights. Everything feels so much more romantic! I definitely think people should take more time to date in December, thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂 Cx
